WHAT ARE THE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS OF OY?
Octenidine HCl, one of the major constituents of OY, is a molecule with anti-bacterial activity and therefore very good deo-activity. After all, every properly working deodorant contains an antiseptic (disinfectant effect).
The molecule has been used in Germany for 30 years and has been found to be particularly safe. Our dose has been adjusted after a whole series of tests for effective operation. Fresh sweat is completely odourless, but the bacteria on the skin cause the sweat odour.
In addition, Ethylhexylglycerine provides an additional deodorizing effect.
In OY we process these active substances in a highly moisturising and nourishing antibacterial soap, whereby the soap is washed off: it is a rinse-off and therefore not a leave-on product.
This gives you deeply cleansed pores and pure clean skin, which is much more natural than leave-on products from sprays and rollers ...
It is also important that all ingredients in our deodorizing soap are biodegradable and do not cause any damage to the environment.
SHOULD I STILL USE A DEODORANT AS WELL?
A deodorant can still be used, but can be phased out after 2 weeks (if desired). The use of a normal deodorant is increasingly less necessary after having used the OY antibacterial soap. From now on your favourite perfume will give you a nice scent!
Note the difference between a normal deodorant that masks the odour and an antiperspirant with aluminium salts that really inhibits sweating. If you do not want wet armpits, you can continue to use this.
OY eliminates sweat odour.
I AM NOT ODOUR FREE AFTER 10 DAYS - WHAT CAN I DO?
First of all pay attention to the correct use of our antibacterial soap: apply to dry skin, allow it to work for at least 1 minute, rinse well and dry well. A small amount of OY is sufficient, so you don't have to apply a thick layer. A pea-sized quantity is enough for both armpits.
We advise someone who suffers from persistent sweat odours to use OY in the morning and in the evening. You can also still combine with a classic deodorant.
2% of the test subjects reported that the odour evolved at start-up, but this should disappear after 2 weeks of consistent and correct use.
3% reported that OY antibacterial soap was not sufficient to be odour-free for 24 hours, hence it can still be used with a deodorant.
We are very proud to state that 97% of people are smelling lovely thanks to Oy.
I SHAVE MY ARMPITS: WHAT SHOULD I USE, OY DEO WASH OR OY DEO SCRUB?
Both products can be used on a shaved armpit.
• Deo Wash antibacterial soap is for a "recently shaved" or sensitive armpit, skin folds and groin area.
• Deo Scrub can be used on a less sensitive armpit, and certainly with armpit hair: the bacteria stick to the hair and continue to cause sweat odour; the scrubbing ensures cleaning of the armpit hair.
We also recommend OY Deo Scrub for the feet to remove the dead skin cells so that the active ingredient can work better. You use the scrub to properly neutralise all bacteria between the toes and around and under the nails.
Both the deodorizing soap and the scrub have the same effect, only the scrub contains subtle, soft sand particles.
DOES THE USE OF THE DEODORIZING SOAP MEAN THERE IS EFFECTIVELY LESS MOISTURE PRODUCTION/SWEATING?
No, our quote is: sweating is allowed, smells are not.
Sweating is a natural process and a necessary function of our body. By sweating our body can prevent itself from getting too hot. Sweat cools the body.
Some people have almost no moisture formation and will therefore not sweat nor smell. This is usually genetically determined.
WHY DOESN’T THE SOAP FOAM?
OY is a gel to milk, a very specific formula because the deodorizing soap must stick to the skin for one minute and can then be rinsed off very easily. The water turns the gel into a nourishing body milk.
This does not feel sticky after drying. Afterwards you have deeply cleansed pores and a very pure and soft skin.
IS IT SAFE TO USE THIS PRODUCT DAILY?
Our antibacterial soap contains a very safe active ingredient in a dose that is suitable for daily use: Octenidine has been around in Germany for more than 30 years and is used as a safe antiseptic in hospitals. Even for pregnant women and premature babies.
Our clinical tests have shown that OY does not kill all microbiota even after 60 minutes. The applied dose is adjusted to eliminate the overgrowth of some bacteria and to ensure a better balance on the skin.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE USE OF AN ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP AND A DEODORANT?
Every deodorant contains antiseptic agents that continue to act on your skin for most of the day.
The use of an antibacterial soap is instant - only one minute - and therefore much more appropriate compared to a deodorant that sticks to your skin and acts for a whole day. Some dermatologists even recommend washing off the remains of an antiperspirant of deodorant under the armpits every night before bedtime. This is why OY antibacterial soap is the ideal solution.
After 8 days of using OY you can reduce the use of a deodorant.
FROM WHICH AGE IS IT OK TO USE OY?
Our OY Deo Wash is safe for every age. Our products have been tested and approved for all ages by the toxicologist (this testing is also a legal obligation!).
The natural perfume in OY Deo Scrub contains eucalyptus, among others, and this is generally not recommended for babies under 36 months. But the smelly feet of, for example, 4-year-olds can perfectly be treated with OY by using this once or twice a week.
This antibacterial soap is also the ideal solution for young teenagers who suddenly start to suffer from sweat odour. Washing yourself every morning and leaving for class feeling fresh, and staying fresh even after the gymnastics classes ensures self-confidence! We already have many 8 to 9-year-old fans of our antibacterial soap.
WILL IT BE POSSIBLE TO GET SMALLER TUBES OR SAMPLES? FOR USE IN HAND LUGGAGE OR IN THE SPORTS BAG?
We deliberately do not make samples, because daily use for a minimum of 8 days is necessary for the effective operation of our antibacterial soap.
Smaller packages of, for example, 100 ml are currently still a logistical challenge - we will offer smaller packages as soon as possible. If you want to stay informed, make sure you sign up for our newsletter.
For the time being you can get a small bottle from the pharmacist and fill it yourself.
IS THERE A DIFFERENCE IN THE SCENT FOR MEN AND WOMEN?
Our scents are natural fragrances and "unisex". With this, OY follows the most current trends in the cosmetics and care sector.
We anticipate providing a "perfume-free" variant of our antibacterial soap in the future to also help perfume-sensitive customers.
WOULD A SOAP PUMP BE POSSIBLE?
We have tested many different types of packaging. Conclusion: our antibacterial soap is not liquid enough to work well with a pump. We will continue to search for a convenient packaging method.
CAN I USE OY IN THE SHOWER?
OY antibacterial soap is not a shower soap because the soap immediately rinses away with the water in the shower and does not have sufficient effect.
Correct use is therefore very important!
We recommend that you place the tube next to your toothpaste on the wash basin.
• Immediately apply a thin layer of our odour-resistant soap on dry skin under the armpits (and possibly also between the toes, in the groin area, etc.) in the morning.
• Allow OY to act for 1 minute (meanwhile you can brush your teeth, for example).
• Then rinse OY in the shower or at the sink with a washcloth.
CAN YOU STILL APPLY A SHOWER GEL IF YOU HAVE RINSED OFF THE PRODUCT?
OY is a deep cleansing soap that you only use in the places where needed: to deodorize the moist warm spots on the body. The soap can be used locally for armpits, feet and skin folds. Apply to dry skin, leave for 1 minute and then rinse off with water.
You can use a shower gel, but it is not recommended to apply it to the places where you used OY because the pores will be very pure and also very well hydrated thanks to our antibacterial soap. A regular shower soap is more likely to dry out the skin due to the foam.
CAN OY ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP ALSO BE USED WITHOUT SHOWERING?
This is perfectly possible!
If washcloth and washbasin is more your style, be our guest! It is also a way to consume little water, which we only welcome.
WHY DO I SWEAT MORE THAN SOMEONE ELSE?
Almost everyone sweats to a greater or lesser extent. Sweating increases during exercise, during heavy physical exertion or in a stressful situation. Sweating is healthy and sweat is odourless.
Everyone has a slightly different composition of microbiota and bacteria on the skin. You can compare this with your DNA that is personal.
Moisture and heat ensure the growth of bacteria. Sweat odour is caused by specific groups of microorganisms (mainly Corynebacteria, Propionibacteria and Staphylococci).
If you do not have these specific bacterial groups under your armpits and feet, you won’t develop sweat odour.
Clinical studies have proven that due to hormonal changes and during exertion and stress, precisely those specific bacteria groups that cause bad odour grow extra fast. These in turn cause the sweat to smell more quickly.
By eliminating those overgrowing bacteria with OY antibacterial soap, you eliminate the cause of the stale smell. Because the bacteria that cause the bad odour are neutralised for 24 hours.
You also ensure a better balance of your skin flora by eliminating this overgrowth.
WHAT CAUSES THE YELLOW PATCHES ON CLOTHING?
The microorganisms under the armpits along with components from certain deodorants are the main culprits here. In addition to an unpleasant odour, they also cause the formation of yellow circles.
If you tackle the cause by eliminating these microorganisms with OY antibacterial soap, the yellow circles will no longer have a chance.
WHAT TO DO ABOUT EXCESSIVE UNDERARM SWEATING?
Sweating is a natural and necessary process. The function of sweating is to cool the body and through the armpits is the normal way. If you slow down this too much under the armpits, your body will look for another place to cool down, through your hands, your feet, scalp or groin area.
So in the long term it is less healthy to slow down sweating every day. Fortunately an antibacterial soap offers the solution. After all, OY eliminates sweat odour.
If you want to avoid wet armpits then using an antiperspirant is a possibility. For example, you can keep the wet armpits under control on an important occasion.
Hereby, among other things, the aluminium salts and some other deodorants can cause discoloration and circles on clothing, which is not the case with OY, a soap against body odours.
